Currency
The rate is the reference feed the API publishes, not an airport desk. If the fetch fails, the page says so and takes a rate you type.
How it works
The browser requests https://open.er-api.com/v6/latest/USD. There is no key. The payload has a rate per currency against the US dollar and an update time. A to B is amount / rate(A) × rate(B).
The feed does not include tax, spread or the cash a desk will actually pay. It can lag or fail. The manual rate is “how many units of the target equal 1 unit of the source”.
Questions
Why did the rate fail to load?
The public API can be down, blocked or late. The page shows a failure message and the manual rate still works.
Can I send money at this rate?
Not as a firm price. Use the quote from the service that will move the money.
Which currencies?
BRL, USD, EUR, GBP, ARS, CLP, PYG, UYU, JPY, CAD, AUD, CHF and CNY.
